Ceiling Paint – Decorating Your Fifth Wall

Add width to a tall, narrow space with a dark ceiling.

Your ceiling is an integral part of any room’s makeover, so it’s important to not overlook it during your renovation project. With either a bold ceiling paint colour or layer of classic white ceiling paint, your room can be transformed in no time at all.

A bright, white ceiling can create the illusion of more space and light, and makes a room look bigger than it actually is. On the other hand, using a bold ceiling colour, or the same colour as the walls in the room can add some drama and personality to a room, and make the space feel nice and cosy.

Knowing what paint to use on the ceiling can be tricky to work out if it is your first time undertaking this task, but it needn’t be stressful. Play with colour if the room is big enough to remain spatially unaffected or stick with classic white if you think more light could be helpful. As with all projects though, good preparation is key – and will lead to the easiest way to paint a ceiling.

Good ceiling paint is formulated to hide perfections, and the best ceiling paint is one that is flat doesn’t reflect light from it so any imperfections on the walls or ceiling can be easily hidden. As the formula is a little thicker than regular wall paint, you should only require one coat of ceiling paint for your project.
