Use crisp colours to brighten dark halls

Is your hallway small or stuffy? The key to a brighter space is to enhance as much of the room’s natural light as possible, and one easy way to do this is with light-reflecting paint colours.

Painting your walls in bright, crisp hues like cream, primrose yellow or brilliant white will trick the eye into thinking the area is brighter and airier than it actually is. They’ll also help to reflect the natural light that filters in throughout the day and enhance the artificial light during evening hours, too. Another trick is to keep the colour contrast between the walls and ceilings to a minimum. If your walls are white, choosing a cream or off-white ceiling will help make the space feel light, airy and larger.
