Seasonal refresh: 14 new colours to put a spring in your step

Sometimes, a lick of paint is all it takes to freshen up your space for spring, from bright and breezy greens to pretty pinks and soft and summery yellows. Good news, then, that our Dulux Simply Refresh and Dulux Easycare ranges share 14 new colours between them – just in time for a seasonal refresh. With hues inspired by the beauty of nature – think fields of golden sunflowers, shimmering turquoise seas and rolling green hills – it couldn’t be quicker or easier to lighten and brighten your home. Better still, our inspiring colours are matched by innovative technology, meaning quality coverage from every can and absolutely no compromise when choosing. Now all that’s left to do is hit refresh.

First thing’s first: select from a spectrum of new shades

Behold: 14 glorious new colours available across our collection of cutting-edge products. Each has been personally curated by the colour experts at Dulux to reflect the current trends and cultural mood, while being utterly timeless. This year? “We want to feel uplifted, upbeat and totally at home…”, says Marianne Shillingford, our Creative Director, “which is exactly what our fresh shades evoke. Not only do the showstopping colours transform how a space looks, but how they make you feel in it, whether energised or joyful. They’re feel-good and enable you to paint your positive!”

Stephanie King, our Content Director, adds: “In terms of trends, blues and greens remain bestsellers. They’re always popular choices with their links to nature and the world around us. This year, we’ve taken out brighter hues in favour of mid-tones that are easier to live with and warmer in feel. Pinks and corals are still high on the agenda, so we’ve added a range of newer shades across the spectrum to please every palette, while intense versions have been replaced with more sophisticated iterations. And, of course, neutrals will always be popular. Grey is always a favourite in the UK household, but we are seeing a rise in warmer tones, such as greige.”

With so much to choose from, your creativity is limited only by your imagination, so get moodboarding and get excited. From new neutrals like Pressed Putty and Knotted Twine, to fresh blues and greens such as Faded Indigo and Dewy Lawn, to additional reds like Frosted Papaya and Auburn Embers, there’s a wonderful world of colour to choose from. Below, we look at the ways you can use our new shades in your own home, so dip in and discover your favourites today.

Make an old kitchen new again

Whether preparing fresh salads, making lemonade or helping the kids do their homework, the kitchen is the undisputed heart of the home, so why not give it a new lease of life with a simple lick of paint? Here, we’ve painted the walls in brand-new Pressed Putty paired with Overtly Olive™ using Dulux Easycare Kitchen, which resists everyday cooking stains and spillages  thanks to wipeable and grease-proof technology, while transforming the kitchen cabinets in Natural Calico™, now available in Dulux Simply Refresh Multi-surface. The 2-in-1 formula primes and paints at the same time, meaning it couldn’t have been simpler, making the whole space look brand new. With a fresh and natural look, the kitchen is now ready to welcome the new season, and plenty of guests.

Style tip: add a simple wooden shelf against a newly-painted feature wall to display beautiful crockery, glassware, collectibles and platters – not everything needs to be concealed away in cupboards. A conversation-starter in any space.

Transform the downstairs toilet

The toilet or bathroom can be completely transformed by dipping into our fresh new colours. In this downstairs loo, we’ve painted the walls in grassy Dewy Lawn – just-added to Dulux Easycare Bathroom – to bring the outdoors in and make the space feel bigger. Meanwhile, we’ve used Dulux Simply Refresh Multi-surface – which can be applied directly onto wood, MDF, melamine and metal – to simultaneously prime and paint the cabinet in Perfectly Taupe™. Now available in our versatile new product, the warm neutral is chic and calming, while the green not only looks beautiful, but is protected from mould for a guaranteed five years thanks to Dulux Easycare Bathroom.

Style tip: complement a palette of earthy colours with natural textures and materials, such as wicker and wood, together with lush plants for a shot of greenery. Glamorous accents, such as brass, contrast beautifully against a rustic backdrop.

Create a secret den for the kids

Summer holidays on the horizon? Give the kids something to get excited about by transforming a redundant nook – such as a space under the stairs – with the new colours in our range. Here, we’ve cleared-out a cupboard to make room for a secret den, featuring a striking geometric shape in new California Days teamed with White Cotton™ and Dusted Fondant™. Durable and wipeable, using Dulux Easycare Washable & Tough means that even sticky fingers aren’t a problem, able to withstand everyday wear and tear. Why not get the kids involved in helping design their fun new space?

Style tip: cosy up the corner with brightly-coloured and boldly-patterned textiles – cushions, throws, rugs – together with their favourite toys and books. You might not see them all summer…

Make a splash in the bathroom

Take it upstairs and turn your bathroom into a garden oasis with natural greens. We’ve brought the outside in by painting matt Guild Green on the upper portion of the walls, offset by glossy turquoise tiles beneath, together with complementary green textiles, accessories and plants. The effect is cocooning and comforting – somewhere to retreat to.

Style tip: For a space like a bathroom, give yourself different lighting options to suit different activities, from an overhead pendant for getting ready, to low-level lamps either side of the mirror for relaxing in the bath (plus, plenty of candles of varying heights).
