4 One-Day DIY Projects to do Over the Bank Holiday
Make the most of your extra day off with these easy one-day decorating ideas.
The Bank Holiday weekend is fast approaching (that means summer is too, right?) and if you’re looking to give your home a cheerful spring refresh, it is the perfect time.
Grab your brushes and take a look at these four colourful, and easy, DIY weekend projects to get stuck into.
Sunny side up
Time: 1-2 hours
Wake yourself up in the morning with an unexpected splash of colour in the bathroom. Paint the inside of your bathroom drawers or cupboards like this bright and bold pop of colour from Home Workshop. We’d suggest using Lemon Drizzle in Paint Mixing Satinwood for a similar wake-up call.
Sitting pretty
Time: 1 day
If you’re getting tired of your chairs, a quick dip of paint will transform your standard furniture into something pretty special. Honey Bear Lane turns her old windsor chairs into an ombre collection using different shades of green. Just want a hint of colour? Check out our How to Paint Your Chair Legs video to find out how to update your chairs without going the whole hog.
Colour Play
Time: a weekend
Bring a light and bright edge to your bedroom dresser like this playful ikea hack by Pinja Colada. Colour-blocking drawers in a range of sugary sweet pastel shades like Rock Candy 6, Rock Salt, Highland Falls 3 and a zingy Lemon Pie will have you waking up full of get-up-and-go. You might even start to enjoy sorting your your sock drawer too…
Shady shelves
Time: 1-2 hours
If you have a few tester pots laying around, use them up by giving your shelves a sleek new makeover. Painting just the edges of your shelves is a great way to introduce bright colour to small rooms so that it doesn’t overwhelm. Bonus points for matching your rug with your new pops of colours.
