4 Unusual Wreath Ideas
Make an entrance this Christmas with fancy foliage to suit your front door, whichever colour it may be.
You’ve decked your halls, now add an eye-catching wreath to your front door that’ll make a great first impression before your guests enter your winter wonderland. We’ve rounded up our four different wreath styles – because you don’t have to stick to evergreens everywhere – and matched them with their ideal front door colours.
1. Feather your nest
For a whimsical woodland feel, try ruffling a few feathers and creating a wreath made of faux feathers and twigs like this one by Chatelaine. Embrace a dark backdrop with a front door in a deep and rich shade for maximum contrast against golds and deep greens. Talk about a dramatic entrance…
exterior colour: Black
Wreath: Gold decorative wreath, Marks & Spencer's, £35.
2. Winter wonderland
This fairytale-like entrance comes courtesy of House and Home). To turn an all-white porch and front door into something magical, play around with adding a few faux leaves painted in whites and pinks and it’s a happily ever after. Alternatively, use your white front door to go graphic and contemporary with a geometric wire wreath, like this metallic one from TK Maxx.
Weathershield exterior colour: Pure Brilliant White
Wreath: Metal Door Wreath, TK Maxx, £3.99
3. Bundle of fir
Though to keep a traditional Christmas approach to your wreath, but with a twist, have an evergreen bundle of foliage on your front entrance like Sainsbury's (left).
Weathershield exterior colour: First Dawn
Wreath: Lotus and olive door bundle, Berries & Baubles, £15
4. The bold and beautiful
A beautifully bold red paint gives your home more than a classic pop of colour all year round, and as Design Mom notes, it's especially fitting for the holiday season. For a striking contemporary and wintery balance, pair with an all-white frosted wreath. Santa will most definitely be able to spot your house this year.
Weathershield exterior colour: Volcanic Red
Wreath: All That Glitters, Marks & Spencer's, £15.
