Children change their tastes almost as often as their shoe size, so it makes sense to choose a versatile palette that will grow with them. These tried-and-tested colour schemes will appeal to your in-betweeners without ever growing old.

1. Pick ‘n’ mix

Pastel yellows and greens make for a playful and fun canvas, making them a great choice for all age groups. Softer tones work well for a soothing, gender-neutral nursery scheme, or add a bolder shade or two into the mix to bring the energy levels up for teenagers who want to express themselves.

2. Rose tinted

Pinks and pretty lilacs are perennial favourites with little ones, but to really make sure they stand the test of time it’s wise to go for softer shades which are easier to combine with other colours. That way you can adapt their decor to achieve different looks as they grow up.
