I was so looking forward to using this year’s Colour of the Year, Heart Wood, in my new home. I started researching on Pinterest for interesting ways to decorate with this beautiful, rich colour and decided after lots of pinning I wanted it to be grown up, chic and playful. The colour palette reminds me of Neapolitan ice cream, which was one of my favourites as a child. I love the richness and warmth of Heart Wood, which is why I wanted to use this colour as the backbone of the room. I off-set the earthy tones of Heart Wood with a fun pink inspired by Wes Anderson films. I’ve added a touch of red with the ribbon headboard, the lampshades and an edging of velvet on the curtains and finally the room is pulled together with a beautiful shaggy Moroccan rug.
