Painting with pastels to create a joyful space

The challenge
 

In Renovation Rescue, Dulux colour of the Year 2024 Ambassador Stacey Solomon is putting her passion for DIY to good use by helping people in the middle of their very own refurb nightmares. In the latest episode, she spoke to a couple whose dreams of creating the perfect pastel-coloured kitchen-diner in their semi-detached home were shattered after suffering a disappointing and unexpected setback.

Reluctant to continue with their renovation, the couple in the Forest of Dean needed a serious confidence boost in order to dust themselves off and carry on, and that’s exactly what Stacey brought to the table with her words of encouragement and expert know-how.

The colours
 

Working to the couple’s tight budget, Stacey encouraged them to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in again while showing them how a splash of colour can transform how a space both looks and feels. To tap into the trend for pastels, Stacey used Daffodil White on the ceiling; Pixie Green as an accent for the arch; White Cotton on the walls; and Sorbet for a finishing touch on the upcycled bench.
