Paneling with Dulux Heritage
The challenge
Channelling her passion for DIY into a campaign of nationwide positivity, Renovation Rescue sees Dulux Colour of the Year 2024 Ambassador Stacey Solomon helping people stuck in the middle of refurb nightmares. In the latest episode, she met with a recently-married couple who struggled to keep their project in Cambridgeshire on schedule or budget amidst a bad experience with their builders and have all but given up.
The solution
With a bad first impression of the builders they initially commissioned to transform their 1970s semi, the couple were yet to bring their vision of a timeless, colourful home with a characterful, period feel to life. Despite having just £10,000 to add a kitchen and overhaul the ground floor, Stacey inspired them to get stuck into even the most ambitious jobs themselves, including tiling, building kitchen units and installing panelling.
The colours
Adding both character and colour, Stacey also proved just how easy adding panelling can be, while painting the period feature in Linnet White, Pale Nutmeg, Cornish Clay and Olive Tree in Dulux Heritage can give it a timeless look and make the details really pop.
“I love panelling for adding drama and detail to otherwise characterless rooms,” says Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director at Dulux. “Even more so when they’re painted! We’ve given classic hues contemporary twists in our Dulux Heritage collection, meaning they bring a fresh take on old-world charm to modern-day homes. I’m so happy to see Stacey using a clever combination of colours to give panelling in this young couple’s house a bit of pizzaz.”
